About The Position

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the receipt and accounting of funds being paid to the organization. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that payments are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Apply customer payments.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Process payment reversals.
  • Make adjustments to accounts as needed.
  • Handle customer’s initial reoccurring ACH request.
  • Prepare daily manual deposits.
  • Prepare daily reports for accountants.
  • Process NSF checks and maintain all records pertaining to NSF checks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in the accounting field, preferably in the consumer finance industry.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Strong negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional, tactful and sensitive manner.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
