About The Position

The Accounting Clerk will apply the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.       


Essential Duties:

  • Verify the accuracy of customer account adjustments to ensure quality, consistency and appropriate use of transaction types for proper GL recording.
  • Provide month end support for the accounting close process.
  • Compile data and prepare a variety of reports.
  • Prepare daily and monthly journal entries.
  • Daily cash reconciliation.
  • Take the lead on all reconciliations on a monthly basis ensuring proper support is provided for review. The reconciliations should be completed within 30 days of month end and 45 days of quarter end.
  • Recommend actions to resolve discrepancies and to streamline processes.
  • Investigate questionable data.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Requirements:

  • 1+ year of experience in the accounting field, preferably in the consumer finance industry.
  • Experience with financial software is a plus, preferably Sage 100 and Shaw.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional, tactful and sensitive manner.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SQL is preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
