About The Position

The Consumer Litigation Specialist will be responsible for monitoring and documenting civil and small claims litigation, including court deadlines.  

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support under the direction of inside and outside counsel.
  • Prepare lawsuit documents for filing.
  • Determine and request direction for summons services.
  • Prepare default judgments.
  • Review debtor responses and/or answers to the court to determine the next appropriate action.
  • Prepare discovery.
  • Prepare post judgment documents.
  • Prepare garnishments.
  • Review and monitor non-paying accounts for future actions.
  • Answer and respond to telephone calls and questions from outside third parties such as courts, attorneys, and debtors as directed by management and counsel.
  • Review and respond to incoming mail on a daily basis as directed by management and counsel.
  • Schedule and calendar court hearings as directed by management and counsel.
  • Negotiate balance, settlement, and/or payment of delinquent accounts as directed by management and counsel.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the Company, customers, clients, dealers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

 

  • 3+ year(s) of experience in the consumer litigation field, preferably in the subprime consumer lending industry.
  • Effective calendaring, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of civil and small claim litigation court systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply federal, state and local collections regulations.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a professional, tactful and sensitive manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Available to work a flexible work schedule and overtime as needed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. 

 

Salary: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour
