About The Position

Under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer, the Associate In-House Counsel will assist in handling in-house litigation, provide legal advice to various business units, and will be assigned other projects as needed. (In-House Position in Santa Ana, CA).

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in handling in-house litigation from inception to final resolution, including trial.
  • Draft demand letters, responses to demands, discovery, pleadings, and law & motion.
  • Make court appearances as needed.
  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer with litigation strategy and resolution of claims; negotiate and draft settlement agreements.
  • Coordinate and advise outside counsel on pending litigation matters.
  • Work with business units to find creative solutions for legal issues.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Juris Doctorate and admission to the California State Bar required, however recent graduates awaiting California Bar Exam results will be considered.
  • 0 - 3 years of law firm or in-house litigation experience required. 
  • Strong legal writing and research skills using a variety of sources.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with coworkers in a professional, tactful, and sensitive manner.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with outside counsel and opposing counsel, and to negotiate the resolution of issues.
  • Experience in consumer finance law is a plus.
  • Experience in direct commercial lending or real estate is a plus.

 

Salary: $95,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually
